A multi-layer reactive transport model for fractured porous media

چکیده

An accurate modeling of reactive flows in fractured porous media is a key ingredient to obtain reliable numerical simulations several industrial and environmental applications. For some values the physical parameters we can observe formation narrow region or layer around fractures where chemical reactions are focused. Here, transported solute may precipitate form salt, vice-versa. This phenomenon has been observed reported real outcrops. By changing its properties, this might substantially alter global flow response system thus actual transport solute: problem non-linear fully coupled. The aim work propose new mathematical model for media, by approximating both fracture these surrounding layers via reduced model. In particular, our main goal describe thickness evolution with model, compare it resolved equidimensional validation. As concerns approximation extend an operator splitting scheme time solve sequentially, at each step, process avoiding need monolithic solver, which be challenging due non-smoothness reaction rate. We consider bi- tridimensional test cases asses accuracy benefit proposed realistic scenarios.

Hybrid models of reactive transport in porous and fractured media

Darcy-scale models of flow and transport in porous media often fail to describe experimentally observed phenomena, while their pore-scale counterparts are accurate but can be computationally prohibitive. Most numerical multiscale models, which seek to combine these two descriptions, require empirical closures and/or assumptions about the behavior of pore-scale quantities at the continuum (Darcy...

PHT3D: a reactive multicomponent transport model for saturated porous media.

This column reviews the general features of PHT3D Version 2, a reactive multicomponent transport model that couples the geochemical modeling software PHREEQC-2 (Parkhurst and Appelo 1999) with three-dimensional groundwater flow and transport simulators MODFLOW2000 and MT3DMS (Zheng and Wang 1999). The original version of PHT3D was developed by Henning Prommer and Version 2 by Henning Prommer an...

Pore scale simulation of solute transport in fractured porous media

[1] We investigate the effects of the porosity (and thus permeability) of porous matrix and the fracture aperture on transport in fractured porous media. We do so with detailed lattice Boltzmann simulations on constructed porous media with a single fracture. Both plume spatial moments (the average plume velocity and the dispersion coefficients) and mass transfer coefficients between the facture...

Modelling flow and solute transport in fractured porous media

A BEM numerical model is presented for the flow and solute transport in fractured porous media, which is based on the dual reciprocity method multi domain scheme (DRM-MD). The model solves the 3D flow equation based on the Darcy law in the coupled system of porous media, fracture network and fracture intersections. Unlike the discrete fracture models, which for simplicity use Fick's law in the ...

Large-scale Mass Transport Modelling in Discretely- Fractured Porous Media

A numerical model has been developed for the large-scale simulation of solute transport in discretelyfractured porous media. A generic finite elements code, MEF++, has been used to account for simultaneous flow and transport in 2D fracture and 3D porous medium elements. Equations for the fractures and the porous medium are solve separately but are coupled with a mass transfer term. This mass tr...
